What’s it about?

In an archaic world where angels cling to vengeance, false gods to endless hunger, and demons to whatever’s left to devour, every ideal rots into the very thing it once swore to destroy. KATASTASIS is not a classic hero’s journey, but a dark saga about many characters who fall victim to the same tragedy: featuring epic battles, loyalty and betrayal, and an entire world crumbling under the weight of its own desires.

Who’s behind this?

I’m Helge C. Balzer, a fantasy illustrator and concept artist for over 20 years, working on projects such as Warhammer, Magic: The Gathering, and Arkham Horror. KATASTASIS is my personal project. It’s been with me since my very first sketchbook.

When does it start?

KATASTASIS is in the works, and this time, I’m not making any promises about a release date. The webcomic will be published chapter by chapter, right here on this page. I explain why it took so long in The Long Road to KATASTASIS. If you don’t want to miss a thing, subscribe to the newsletter.

Why is it free?

Because I want to tell this story, not sell it. KATASTASIS is and will remain free: no paywall, no data collection, no tricks.
